The Brasure Family Funeral Announcement Collection contains two funeral announcements sent to the Brashure family of Millsboro, Sussex County, DE. The first card, sent to Mr. and Mrs. William Brasure, Sr. of Millsboro, DE, announced the funeral of Benjamin T. Atkins in 1931.The second card, sent to Mr. and Mrs. John Brasure of Millsboro, DE announced the death of Maud E. Marshall of Lewes, DE in 1939.

This small collection is comprised of two photograph albums, loose photographs, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous papers; most of which is assumed the prior property of Dona Faulkner (1875-1955). The items that comprise the collection were purchased at an auction selling items on consignment. Of the two albums, only one is attributed to Faulkner. Faulkner was a resident of Bozman, Maryland in the County of Talbot for the span of her life.

Howard and Marvin E. Cox Ledger and Journal

The Howard and Marvin E. Cox Ledger and Journal contains detailed handwritten vital information on individuals in Nanticoke and other Wicomico County communities, in addition to narratives recorded by Howard and Marvin Cox. Included are records listing marriages (1865-1979) and deaths (1838-1982) with a separate section for African American deaths (1898-1980). At the end of the ledger is a journal written by Marvin Cox from 1918 to 1964 describing the oyster and construction business in the community, including the meeting minutes of the Willing Workers of Nanticoke. The entire ledger is transcribed and attached to the finding aid.

James R. Trader papers

The papers of James R. Trader (1931-2012) cover his efforts to document family history on the Delmarva Peninsula and burial sites in Maryland through both independent research and as a member of the Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites (CPMBS) between 1988 and 2012. The family history research is most substantial series in the collection with particular focus on the Trader surname. The burial site research features records for sites in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. The bulk of the CPMBS records document the Coalition’s activities, correspondence, and legislative efforts while Trader served as president and on the board of directors. A small portion of the collection contains the early records of the social club, Eastern Shore Singles.
